Born in
Ohio, USA, to a Lebanese father and a Syrian mother, Mayar completed his secondary education in
Paris, France. In 2018, he enrolled at
École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
as an Environmental Sciences and Engineering student. He earned his MEng in Civil and
Environmental Engineering from
Imperial College London
.
In 2023, Mayar joined the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
as a visiting student at
Senseable City Lab
. His research involved developing optimization models to maximize the spatial and temporal monitoring of
urban environmental qualities through drive-by sensing. Later appointed as a research fellow at the
Dubai Future Labs
, he researched a model for pedestrian dynamics, based on utility theory and Bayesian modeling.
Mayar is also part of the
